Camping August 2010

We just got back from a 6 day camping trip to Interlochen State Park.  A music camp was right next to us and the kids loved watching and pretending to be a part of it.  We were right by the lake, which is very clear and inviting but a warning about "swimmers itch" was posted.  So we went to Empire lake for swimming.  We also visited Traverse City, Glen Lake and climbed up the Sleeping Bear Dunes.  Our 6 year old says it is more fun going down the dune.  The 2 year old was able to climb almost to the top before she asked to be carried.  The days we chose to swim and climb were windy and kind of cool.  So we were not really able to enjoy the waters and were not able to get good pictures on the dunes.  We got sand blasted a lot this year.  Good thing it is our second year so we already know how it looks like up on the dunes when the sand are calm and you just get to enjoy the view and the waters.  Both Traverse and Glen Lake are pretty quaint cities to visit as well.
