Interlochen State Park has become a favorite camp site for us. The shower rooms were big and clean. Running trail is also good for the hubby. It is just a few miles away from Traverse City and Sleeping Bear Dunes National Lakeshore. Here is another article I would love to share about the Sleeping Bear Sand Dunes We love visiting both Traverse and the Dunes.
Thursday, August 11, 2011 was a great day to drive up North. For driving entertainment we got the usual doodle pads, plain paper and pens, mobigo, nintendo, itouch and we are really grateful for the dad winning the ipad as well. It added to something different to play when everything else is getting too borrrrrring. I am enumerating them to see how long it will be when we succumbed to the latest generation of gadgets. So far, the kids don't mind that all they have are first generations. They still served their purposes very well.
Friday, August 12, 2011 was spent around the Interlochen Park and we went pot pot golfing in Interlochen's oldest, newest and only mini golf place. We played in the lake and in the playground by our campground. It was a very nice day to be outdoors away from home.
Saturday, August 13, 2011 was a cool, cloudy day. Rain poured from around 2 am to around 5 am. We decided to visit Traverse City. We visited Higher Grounds coffee bar and roastery, the hubby of course tried their coffee. We also visited Oryana Health Food Store where we bought a jar of raw honey and some tea. It's my first raw honey and to my surprise, I like it better than the regular store bought honey.
Sunday, August 14, 2011 started out cool in the morning. But according to the forecast it will warm up throughout the day. The kids and I went hiking at the Alligator Trail while the hubby went running before we climbed the sand dune. We all love climbing the dune. This time, even after an hour of hiking in the trail, the kids were both able to climb the dune without being carried all the way to the very top of the second hill.
Monday, August 15, 2011, was a very nice warm day. We visited the Platte River State Fish Hatchery and went swimming at Empire, Michigan.
Tuesday, August 16, 2011 was the drive home. Weather was great for all the packing that needs to be done. This culminates our camping trips for the year 2011.
