State of Fear

This 2004 book by Michael Crichton will keep you on your toes.  If you like watching his movies Jurassic Park, Twister and the T.V. series E.R. and a lot more, check out the link,  you would love this book.  State of Fear  is very thought provoking.   "Global Warming" is something we hear all the time.  The weather gets too cold, too warm, tsunamis, earthquakes, too much rain, no rain anything that happens to the weather and you will hear "Global Warming".  In State of Fear, Michael Crichton will show you the other side of this phenomenon.  Is it really Global Warming or just a normal cycle of the Earths survival?  Some glaciers may be melting but is it really causing water levels to grow high that soon some tiny islands or even countries will disappear from the map?  Is the media manipulated so the scientists will get more funding?  Or is it a scare started by the environmentalists groups to get more money from the rich people who cares but don't know where to put their money for better use.  Are environmentalist groups just scientist and people trying to study and protect Earth or are they big businesses run by lawyers?
I have a six year old who love books about Dinosaurs and these children's books mentioned about how Earth started out to be too hot then after a few million years it started to get cold "Ice Age" then after a few million years the earth warms up again.  Through these different stages, Earth is inhabited by different creatures and species.
Don't get me wrong.  I know the book is fiction and I would also like to see Earth survive and not be destroyed by pollution and abuse from people.  But who do we listen to.  Global Warming or Just normal Earth Cycle?  Which one has the most funding, which one has the most lawyers.  Which group has scientists that published results which are not manipulated by the funding they receive.  Which group is manipulating the media to scare people.  Is it a real threat or just a business strategy to get more funding?  Are we all doomed or do people still have a few million years before the earth started its cycle to hot and cold again.  Will people survived another Ice Age? 
Michael Crichton shared a lot of graphs and researches in this book.  In fact sometimes, it gets too technical and scientific some reviewers don't like it.
