Running

Running according to Wiki.  Running has always been my hubby's exercise ever since I've known him.  He decided to join races in 2010 and has been to a couple of races including the Crim Run in August of 2010, Great Turtle Race in October of 2011,  and the Space Coast Marathon in November 2011. 

Sunday, May 20, 2012, the hubby finished his second marathon The Qualifier.  The day started out cool but forecast  was that it will get hotter as the day goes on.  The organizers have informed half marathoners that they can start  at 830 instead of 10 to beat the heat.  The marathoners started at 730.   It was a hot  Dow Weekend of Races.  The marathon was the first in our area.  The hubby took advantage of the fact that we don't have to travel far for him to join in the fun and help with the cause as well. 

Since the day started out cool, he was able to run as he planned.   But at about Mile 18, heat exhaustion started and he had to combine walking and running until about Mile 23.  Thanks to people watching along the route who were spraying the runners with water as they run along and to the training schedule he followed.  He was still able to finished strongger than last year.

When we got home after the race the hubby said a few times " I'm never going to run another marathon".  But after checking on his results and noticing that he did improved from last year, he said "maybe one more marathon".  Here is another article I would like to share about the race.

Marathon according to Wiki is approximately 26 Miles or 42 Kilometers long distance running event.  I really admire people who are able to finish any runs.  The determination is very strong for sure to be able to push the body to do something strenuous for hours.  I have not trained for any runs but I know after running around with the kids that even a 1 Mile run would be a challenge for me.
